Cupping Therapy at LUX Aesthetics - COMING SOON!
Cupping Therapy is used on areas of tight muscle tissue to help break up adhesions and fascia, bringing blood to the concentrated spot. When muscle tissue is tight, blood does not travel through the fibers at its normal rate. Metabolic waste such as calcium and lactic acid can build up in the muscle causing it to become inflamed, irritated and hard. Massage and cupping help to flush this waste out, bring new blood to the muscle, which helps bring nutrients and oxygen promoting healing.
Cupping Therapy 30 Minute Cupping Therapy Session $95
Cupping Therapy Add-on to any massage service $15

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique using light touch to restore the rhythmic movements of the skull and the connective tissue surrounding the brain and nerves. We use Craniosacral techniques at LUX Aesthetics to release restrictions in the body’s connective tissue network called the “Fascia”.
These very gentle, yet powerful, treatments are key in treating migraines, headaches, post head injury, concussion, spinal pain, and nerve problems.
What is the Craniosacral System?
The Craniosacral system includes the skull, the fascial tissue around and through the brain, spinal cord and connected to the sacrum. Another name for this system is the dural system.
The Craniosacral system is the central system of the body. The skull is mobile and the fascial system within the connective tissue is filled with fluid. It has a rhythm and pattern that enables our bodies to function in an optimal way.
What are our Craniosacral Treatments?
We have extensive training from Upledger Institute in Craniosacral approaches. We integrate our knowledge from years of training and experience to address the needs of your body.
The treatments at LUX Aesthetics are one-on-one individual sessions for 60 minutes with hands on treatments, which is different from most traditional therapie
Our therapy will include looking at the body as an integrated whole. When an area of your body is out of alignment it can affect the entire system causing migraines, blurred vision, neck pain, shoulder and back pain to name a few.
We have seen amazing results in our clients to enable their system to improve function by reducing spasticity and even intracranial pressures. When the inflammation, spasticity, and/or pressure is reduced or eliminated, your body has the increased ability to move with ease and strengthen. These treatments are highly effective in treating headaches, spinal pain, neurologic pain and other symptoms.
We work with the body, and its needs. At LUX Aesthetics the art and skill is to be able to listen to the body and its messages for what it needs to help it heal.
What is Myofascial Release for Pain Relief?
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique using gentle sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions to decrease pain and increase range of motion.
This unique form of therapy is used to eliminate back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, TMJ, restriction of motion and many other ailments or diagnosis
What is a Fascial Restriction?
Fascia is connective tissue which covers and interpenetrates our every muscle, bone, and nerves as well all our organs. From the functional point of view the fascia is a 3 dimensional web of continuous tissue that extends from the top of our head to the tip of the toes.
When fascia scars and hardens in one area, creating a fascial restriction, (following injury, inflammation, disease, surgery, etc), it can put tension on adjacent pain-sensitive structures in other areas of the body along with decreased fluid flowing through the area.
Therefore, creating a decreased range of motion, tightness and pain in different areas of the body.
Treating Fascial Restrictions:
We have been highly trained at the CORE Institute in treating the fascial system. We have an understanding of the facial system and how it works. We use only a “hands-on” approach to eliminating your pain or increasing range of motion. Using our skills and years of experience we will release the fascial restrictions using sustained pressure for a period of time, allowing the fascia to elongate in a safe and gentle manner.
The source of the restriction most likely is in a different area than the symptom (or painful area) of your body. A good example of how the source is usually in a different area of the pain is a chronic low back pain client: although the low back is primarily involved, the client may also have significant discomfort in the neck. This is due to the gradual tightening of the muscles and fascial system. As the fascia tightness has crept its way up the back, eventually creating neck and head pain.
Experience shows that optimal resolution of the low back pain requires release of the fascia of both the back and neck; if the neck tightness is not also released it will continue to apply a “drag” in the downward direction until fascial restrictions and pain have again returned to the low back. Therefore, Myofascial Release Therapy is a “Whole Body” approach to wellness.
We treat the whole body for optimal results! Myofascial Release is highly effective in Reducing or Eliminating:
Fibromyalgia Pain
Back/Neck Pain
Shoulder/Knee injuries
Headaches/Migraines
TMJ Problems
Arthritis Pain
Chronic Pain
Sciatica Pain
Scoliosis
Plantar Fasciitis
Neuromuscular Dysfunction
Decreased Range of Motion

What is a Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage is also known as a classic massage, and is the most common type of massage practiced in the United States and the western world. It is based on a modern understanding of anatomy and physiology, and is performed on a massage table with either oil or lotion.
Swedish massage therapists will employ a variety of techniques throughout the massage including (but certainly not limited to) long gliding stokes towards the heart to promote circulation and lymph flow, compression on major muscle groups and attachment sights to gently release tense muscles, and passive joint movements to keep joints health and lubricated.
There is no particular order or protocol for a Swedish massage, and each therapist will bring their own unique energy and toolset to the table. Some therapists will incorporate deep tissue and other advanced techniques as requested and on targeted areas, but the overall intention of a Swedish massage is to relax, energize and loosen tightened muscles in a gentle and compassionate way.
What are the benefits of Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage boasts loads of benefits for both the mind and the body. On a physical level, a Swedish massage will help to reduce muscle soreness and stiffness https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6243630/>, improve circulation https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/04/140416125434.htm> of blood and lymph, reduce blood pressure https://www.bodyworkmovementtherapies.com/article/S1360-8592(99)90129-8/abstract>, and assist with dissolution of scar tissue and adhesions (knots).
On an equally important but more subtle level, a Swedish massage can help to reduce anxiety and depression https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2922919/> which in turn can promote a sense of relaxation and wellbeing that encourages the rest and reset response the body and mind require to heal and rejuvenate.
What does a typical Swedish massage session look like?
Traditionally, Swedish massage is done in western fashion with the client lying completely unclothed or partially unclothed on a massage table with massage techniques applied to the client’s bare skin using oil or lotion as a lubricant. The body is modestly and appropriately draped throughout the entire session, and the therapist only exposes and works on one area at a time. This type of massage is best as a full body session of 60 or 90 minutes at a time.
Deep Tissue or Swedish?
When considering whether to book a Swedish or deep tissue massage, it is best to consider the intention of the massage. If what is desired of the massage is therapeutic in a nature, such as pain relief or rehabilitation of a particular area of the body, then deep tissue might be a better choice. If the intention is to get a general full body massage with deep pressure for the purposes of relaxation, a Swedish massage might then be the better option as long as the client’s desire for deep pressure is expressed.
What is the history of Swedish Massage?
Touch as healing modality is as old as human history, and civilizations from around the globe, have long realized the natural healing powers of massage. Each region of the world has their own unique approach to massage, and that approach is informed by the cultural understanding of the human body and their philosophies about health and wellness. In general, massage therapy can be divided into eastern and western schools of thought.
Merzger, who was also noted for being a talented gymnast with an impeccable understanding of physiology, concentrated his doctoral studies on the application of French friction treatments on patients with minor sprains. The techniques he outlines in his 47-page dissertation on The Treatment of Distorio Pedis with Frictions are the bedrock and foundation of Swedish massage.
In this document, he defines the five therapeutic techniques that are the heart of the modern Swedish massage:
Effleurage-- a long, gliding stroke
Petrissage-- kneading of a muscle
Friction-- heat generating rubbing motions
Tapotement-- tapping or percussive movements
Vibration-- shaking or jostling of muscles.
While Swedish massage has evolved over time, every Swedish massage performed today incorporates and expands upon these five foundational techniques.
Is Swedish massage right for me?
Swedish is perfect for those new to massage, or for those that don’t have any physical concerns and just want to relax. This type of massage is an excellent entry point into the world of massage therapy, and an educated and knowledgeable therapist will be able to guide their clients towards other massage modalities that might better serve any target issues the client may have.
Neuromuscular & Trigger Point Massage Therapy
$135/hr.
$85/30 mins
Neuromuscular Therapy , also known as Trigger Point Release Technique, is a method of massage that focuses on alleviating pain and stress through the manual release of trigger points (TrP). Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is great for getting at those persistent and recurring knots that we all suffer from.
Trigger points located in a muscle can cause inflammation and discomfort. This discomfort can be located at the source of the knot (locally) or travel down a path of your body known as a referral pattern. Below are some examples. For more information about trigger point referral patterns, search for trigger point charts and you will see multiple charts detailing muscles and regions of referral pain.
Hip Trigger Point Referral Pattern eg.
Shoulder Trigger Point Referral Pattern eg.
Neuromuscular trigger point massage, also known as myofascial trigger point therapy or myofascial release, is a massage technique that involves applying pressure to trigger points in muscles to relieve pain and restore normal function:
What it is
A specialized massage that uses firm, sustained pressure to treat trigger points, which are areas of muscle that are contracted and have reduced blood and nutrient flow
How it works
The massage therapist applies pressure to the trigger point with their fingers, knuckles, or elbows for 10-30 seconds. This releases tension in the trigger point, stimulates blood flow, and helps the muscle heal
Benefits
Neuromuscular massage can help with:
Relieving pain and stress
Improving circulation
Correcting postural problems
Treating repetitive movement injuries
Reducing muscular pain, tightness, and fatigue
Breaking down adhesions and scar tissue
